Spain's Health Ministry has reported that 1,060 deaths in July 2024 can be attributed to the heatwave, a 57% increase on the previous year. The 'MoMo' system, which monitors mortality, showed a significant increase in heat-related deaths, including 1,180 deaths between May 16 and July 13, 2024. Experts point out that global warming is contributing to intensifying heat waves, and the health ministry is running campaigns to raise awareness about the risks of the heatwave.
