The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announces the closure of the Friendship Bridge Giurgiu-Ruse on March 12, 2026, between 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM, for emergency repairs.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) informs Romanian citizens about the temporary closure of traffic on the Friendship Bridge Giurgiu-Ruse, scheduled for Thursday, March 12, 2026, between 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM.

This measure is necessary for urgent repairs to the road surface, and traffic will be suspended in both directions for all categories of vehicles.

Romanian citizens who are in or intend to travel to the Republic of Bulgaria can request consular assistance at the phone numbers of the Romanian Embassy in Sofia. In case of emergency, an emergency phone line of the embassy is also available.

It is also important to mention that the Friendship Bridge was closed in 2025 for major repair works.
