Traffic on the Giurgiu–Ruse Friendship Bridge will be restricted between October 28 and December 4, 2026, due to the installation of expansion joints. The measure will apply both during the day and at night, the National Road Infrastructure Management Company (CNAIR) announced.
The works will be carried out in two stages, and traffic will be directed alternately by temporary traffic lights. During the first stage, from October 28 to November 13, the work will cover no more than half of carriageway 1 of the bridge. Traffic will move alternately along the remaining available section.
The second stage is scheduled for November 14 to December 4. During this period, the works will cover no more than half of carriageway 2, and traffic will likewise be directed alternately using traffic lights.
CNAIR states that restricting traffic throughout the entire day is necessary to carry out the works safely. The institution recommends that drivers proceed with caution and comply with the temporary road signage in place in the bridge area. The Friendship Bridge is one of the main road links between Romania and Bulgaria, and the restrictions may affect cross-border traffic during the works.
