Road traffic on the Giurgiu–Ruse Friendship Bridge will be completely stopped on Sunday, 27 September 2026, between 11:00 and 12:00, for the International Cross-Country Race “Running of the Free Spirit Ruse–Giurgiu.” The measure is necessary for the safety of the approximately 450 participants, whose route includes crossing the bridge.

The competition takes place between 11:00 and 13:00, but the suspension of traffic on the bridge is scheduled only for the first hour. Traffic will resume after 12:00, while the Border Police, together with the Romanian and Bulgarian authorities, will monitor and manage traffic in the area.

Additional restrictions will be imposed in the municipality of Giurgiu. Between 08:00 and 14:00, traffic will be limited in the Unirii Square area, on the sections bounded by Parc Alei, Episcopiei, Nicolae Bălănescu, General Berthelot, Hristo Botev and Romarta streets and intersections.

Between 10:00 and 14:00, traffic will be stopped on Bucharest Boulevard, between Unirii Square, the esplanade of the “Tudor Vianu” Theatre, and the Kaufland roundabout. Partial restrictions will also be applied on Prieteniei Road. Drivers are advised to plan their journeys and follow the instructions of police officers.
