At least 18 people were killed on Monday, November 2, 2026, in the town of Komyshuvakha, in Ukraine’s Zaporizhzhia region, following an airstrike attributed to Russia. According to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, approximately ten guided bombs struck a school where local residents were receiving humanitarian aid, as well as the shelter where they had taken refuge after the first bombardment.
The toll is provisional. The regional governor announced that 27 people are missing, while another five were injured. Emergency crews, military personnel and special services continue rescue and search operations among the rubble.
Zelensky said the attack was deliberate and that Russia could not have been unaware that humanitarian aid was distributed at that location every week. He accused Moscow of rejecting de-escalation and called on Ukraine’s allies to deliver a firm response.
The attack took place after a humanitarian operation in Oleshky, in the Kherson region, where a six-day ceasefire allowed civilians to be evacuated. Russia has not yet presented its own version of the bombardment.
