More than 50 people could still be under the rubble, one day after the Russian attack on the town of Komyshuvakha, in the Zaporizhzhia region, which killed 33 people. The toll was announced Tuesday in Berlin by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
According to the Kyiv leader, five people have been rescued so far, but search and rescue operations are continuing. “A single attack killed 33 people. Five people were rescued, while more than 50 could still be trapped under the rubble,” Zelenskyy said, as quoted by AFP and reported by News.ro.
The Ukrainian president described the attack as “horrific” and one of the largest massacres committed by Russian forces since the start of the war. The statements were made during his visit to Berlin, as Ukrainian authorities assess the extent of the destruction and seek to establish the exact number of victims.
The attack took place in the Zaporizhzhia region, one of the areas most heavily affected by the fighting between Russia and Ukraine. The toll remains provisional, and the number of victims could rise as emergency teams make their way through the ruins.
