A massive attack launched by the Russian army against Ukraine, involving more than 70 missiles and drones, has left at least 28 people dead and more than 50 injured. The bombardments targeted 12 regions, including energy infrastructure, ahead of the cold season.
The highest death toll was recorded in Pryluky, where an apartment building was destroyed. Ukraine’s Interior Ministry announced 19 victims in the building, including five children, after rescuers found another body among the rubble. Other people were killed in Oleksandriia, Kremenchuk, and Kyiv. In the capital, fragments of a downed drone caused the death of a woman and injured four other people.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the attack included numerous ballistic missiles and called on allies to provide additional air defense systems. The attacks affected energy networks, and electric transport was temporarily suspended in certain areas of Kyiv. Operator Ukrenergo announced emergency power outages in other regions as well.
Moscow claims that it struck factories and military facilities, including sites where missiles and drones are allegedly assembled. Meanwhile, Zelenskyy criticized the easing of certain European sanctions imposed on Russian oligarchs, saying that such decisions send signals of normalizing the war. Rescuers continue operations in Pryluky, while authorities warn of an intensification of attacks before winter.
