Russian attacks launched overnight from Tuesday to Wednesday against Ukraine killed 11 people and injured more than 30, President Volodymyr Zelensky announced. Infrastructure in Kyiv and 12 other regions was targeted, while the energy sector was among the main targets.
The heaviest casualties were recorded in Pryluky, in the Chernihiv region, where a five-story residential building was destroyed. Five people died, while another 26 were injured, including five children. Authorities do not rule out the possibility that other victims may be trapped under the rubble.
“Today, as a ‘birthday gift’ for Putin, the Russian army destroyed a residential building in Pryluky, in the Chernihiv region. It was an ordinary five-story building. Unfortunately, as of this moment, five deaths and 26 injuries have been reported, including five children. There may still be people under the rubble,” Zelensky said.
The attacks caused casualties and damage in several cities. Two people were killed and eight were injured in Dnipro and Kremenchuk, where several apartment buildings were damaged. A building in Zaporizhzhia was hit by a drone, while two people were killed in Kyiv and another two in Oleksandriia.
According to Zelensky, Russia used approximately 70 missiles, many of them ballistic, as well as Shahed-type drones. Ukrainian air defenses intercepted only some of the targets. The president again asked allies for missiles for Patriot systems, which he says are essential for protecting the population.
