Russian airstrikes on Ukraine’s capital killed one person and injured two others, Kyiv authorities announced on Friday. Following the bombardments, traffic on two bridges over the Dnipro River was closed, while restrictions were imposed on a third.
Russian drones struck a school in Kyiv and the Southern Bridge on Thursday, sparking fires in several areas of the city. Authorities announced that the Southern Bridge and Paton Bridge had been closed to traffic, while traffic on the Metro Bridge was operating with restrictions. A fire also broke out on the upper floors of a residential building.
Russia’s Defense Ministry claimed that the attacks targeted facilities used for military purposes, including a bridge in Kyiv, a power plant in the region, the port of Izmail and a cargo ship.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian drones attacked industrial facilities in Volgograd, causing a fire and injuring one person. President Vladimir Putin said that attacks on Russian refineries had cost the country’s economy approximately 1% of GDP and contributed to the formation of queues at gas stations.
