Russian ballistic missiles struck a university campus and residential areas in Kyiv on Monday evening, killing at least one person and injuring 10 others, most of them students. The attack took place as Russian bombardments with Shahed drones continued over the capital and other Ukrainian cities.
The missiles hit university grounds near Kyoto Park and Lisova metro station, on the eastern bank of the Dnipro River. Student dormitories, residential buildings and medical facilities were damaged.
Kyiv Mayor Vitalii Klitschko announced that nine of the injured were taken to hospital, while three are in serious condition. Emergency crews continued checking the affected buildings amid fears that people could be trapped under the rubble.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said the attacks targeted crowded civilian areas, where there were no military installations nearby. He warned that further strikes were possible and referred to the extent of the damage caused in the capital.
