Russian drone attacks killed two people and injured eight others at gas stations in Kyiv

Two people were killed and eight others were injured Friday morning in a Russian drone attack on fuel stations in Kyiv. The mayor of the Ukrainian capital, Vitali Klitschko, announced that one of the victims died in hospital, while six of the injured were hospitalized.

The drones simultaneously struck two Ukrnafta gas stations, according to its director, Bogdan Kukura. One of the stations was reportedly targeted in a double strike, after a second projectile was launched at the same location shortly after the first impact. Recordings published by the company show severely damaged stations and rescue teams operating in smoke-filled areas.

Ukrainian officials said there were no military targets at the gas stations and described the attack as one directed against civilians. In recent weeks, Kyiv has been targeted by several waves of Russian drone attacks, launched both during the day and at night. These have also targeted warehouses, large stores, and logistics centers, amid efforts to disrupt economic activity and supplies.
