Vladimir Putin has identified Finland as a threat after it joined NATO, contrary to its previous position of neutrality. Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of Russia, stated that Russia will change its military strategy along the 1,340 km border with Finland. Medvedev also criticized Western military support for Ukraine, calling their initiatives "nonsense." Finland's accession to NATO has heightened tensions in the region, with Moscow considering it a security issue.
