On Monday morning, the websites of several political parties in Denmark, including the Conservative Party and the Unity List, were inaccessible due to a cyber attack claimed by the pro-Russian hacker group NoName057(16). The attack occurred on the eve of the municipal and regional elections, and the publication Copenhagen Post confirmed that its website was affected, displaying an error message. Danish military intelligence services indicated that the attack is likely a DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service), considering that the reporting on the elections turned the publication into a target.
This group has also claimed attacks on the websites of municipalities and public institutions in Denmark. In the risk assessment for the elections, Danish intelligence services estimated a high risk of cyber attacks, and the incident is being monitored by the Danish Civil Protection Agency.
