The police in Covasna have started investigations after the websites of several local councils in the county became non-functional, being suspected of being targeted by a cyber attack. Among the affected institutions are the local councils of Zăbala, Zagon, Micfalău, Boroșneu Mare, Brăduț, Comandău, Ghidfalău, Malnaș, and Mereni. Representatives of the Covasna County Police Inspectorate announced that specialized police officers are conducting preliminary checks to clarify the situation and identify the circumstances of the incident.
So far, no official complaints have been registered from the affected institutions, but they have notified or are about to notify the National Cyber Security Directorate. The websites of the affected local councils are non-functional, displaying a maintenance message, and the mayors in the area emphasize the importance of quickly resolving the issue to ensure transparency in the activities of the local administration. The Covasna County Police Inspectorate recommends that public institutions report cyber security incidents immediately.
