Several digital public services in the Republic of Moldova will remain unavailable on Monday, October 26, after authorities identified and blocked a new attempt to force access to government systems. The platforms for submitting and issuing permits are also affected.
The attempt was detected on the night from Saturday to Sunday, around 02:00. The Electronic Governance Agency, the Cybersecurity Agency, and the Information Technology and Cybersecurity Service have proactively disconnected some platforms to inspect the infrastructure and prevent breaches.
Approximately 15 specialists are monitoring the systems and working to secure them. Technical teams have been working without interruption since October 23, but the authorities have not announced a deadline for the full restoration of services. Access will be gradually resumed after the protection of citizens’ and companies’ data has been verified.
The incident represents a new stage of the cyberattack reported on the night of October 22, when public services recorded approximately 11 million access requests. The authorities claim that the attackers sought to illegally obtain personal data.
Institutions are warning the public not to disclose passwords, authentication codes, or banking details and not to access suspicious links. According to the authorities, scammers may pose as employees of public institutions or banks.
