Polish fighter jets recently intercepted a Russian reconnaissance aircraft Il-20, located 30 kilometers off the coast of Poland, in the international waters of the Baltic Sea.
The Minister of Defense, Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz, confirmed that the aircraft did not enter Polish airspace, but emphasized that Russia continues to test Poland's air defense systems. The incident is part of a series of similar interceptions, with Russian military aircraft frequently approaching Poland's Baltic coast in recent months.
In July, Polish aircraft intercepted Russian planes for three consecutive days. Polish authorities are on alert following the incident with the Russian cruise missile Kh-101, which crashed in eastern Poland, highlighting the potential risks of airspace violations.
