The Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs has requested Belarus to extradite two Ukrainian citizens, Oleksandr K. and Evhenii I., accused of committing acts of sabotage on the Polish railway network, on behalf of Russia. The two men fled to Belarus after causing two incidents on a railway line towards Ukraine on Sunday, including an explosion on the Warsaw-Lublin route. The request was sent on Wednesday by Poland, and prosecutors have charged them in absentia.

Relations between Poland and Belarus are already tense, and Poland has recently announced additional security measures, including the deployment of troops to protect infrastructure. Polish authorities claim that the two acted on the orders of Russian intelligence services, an accusation that Moscow denies, accusing the Polish government of Russophobia.
