The Bucharest Court of Appeal has decided that PNL must return 14 million lei from the state subsidy, money used in Nicolae Ciucă's presidential campaign in 2024. The decision, pronounced on November 20, is not final, and PNL has 15 days to appeal. AEP has started to recover these amounts considered unjustified since August.

During the same meeting, the court rejected PNL's action, considering its arguments insufficient. AEP has imposed fines of over 1.6 million lei and confiscated 19.5 million lei following controls regarding party financing and electoral campaigns. PNL has challenged AEP's decision through a court action, requesting its annulment.
