Chapter 2: Notoriety and Trust in Political Personalities

According to BAROMETER Informat.ro – INSCOP Research, edition VI, conducted between November 17-19, 2025, Nicușor Dan is the political personality in whom Bucharest residents have the most trust.

BAROMETER Informat.ro – INSCOP Research is a monthly opinion poll conducted by INSCOP Research on behalf of the news platform Informat.ro in partnership with the think tank Strategic Thinking Group.

BAROMETER Informat.ro – INSCOP Research aims to bring to the public's attention topics of interest to stimulate national conversations about various subjects and essential public policies for the present and future of Romania, based on the opinions of Romanians in partnership with think tanks and prestigious academic institutions. It is an initiative through which we aim to contribute to the strengthening of democracy by using scientific and credible tools that bring the voice of citizens to the forefront of public debate.

Methodology: Data was collected between November 17-19, 2025, using the CATI method (telephone interviews), with a simple stratified sample volume of 1107 individuals, representative of significant socio-demographic categories (gender, age, occupation) for the non-institutionalized population of Bucharest, aged 18 and over. The maximum margin of error for the data is ± 2.95%, at a confidence level of 95%.

Remus Ștefureac – Director INSCOP Research: "The data reflects the level of trust of Bucharest residents in each political personality, but also the level of trust of those who have heard of each personality, under the conditions where notoriety varies from person to person. Personalities with lower levels of notoriety naturally benefit from a lower level of trust relative to the total population because their reporting base is smaller. Regarding the personalities running for the mayor of the Capital, it is important to note that this data does not accurately reflect voting intention. If the question regarding voting intention has exclusive options, meaning respondents can choose only one candidate, the questions regarding trust are distinct, with the same respondent being able to trust multiple personalities either from the same political spectrum or, somewhat more rarely, from different areas."

Notoriety of Political Personalities

99.4% of the residents of the Capital say they have heard of Nicușor Dan, 98.6% of George Simion, 98.2% of Călin Georgescu, 95.6% of Ilie Bolojan, 90% of Daniel Băluță, 87.1% of Sorin Grindeanu. Anca Alexandrescu has a notoriety of 80.5%, Cătălin Drulă 78.1%, Ciprian Ciucu 74.4%, and Dominic Fritz 69.5%.

Trust in Political Personalities relative to the total population, respectively to those who have heard of each personality

Nicușor Dan is the political personality in whom Bucharest residents have the most trust among the tested names. Specifically, 44.2% of the total sample declare that they have quite a lot and very much trust in the head of state (respectively 44.4% among those who know him).

The head of state is followed by Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan with 36.6% quite a lot and very much trust relative to the total sample (38.3% relative to those who have heard of him), Daniel Băluță with 33.8% (37.6% relative to those who have heard of him), Ciprian Ciucu with 32.1% (43.1% relative to those who have heard of him) and Călin Georgescu with 25.9% (26.4% relative to those who have heard of him).

Next is Cătălin Drulă with 19% quite a lot and very much trust relative to the total sample (24.3% relative to those who have heard of him), Dominic Fritz with 17.2% (24.7% relative to those who have heard of him), Anca Alexandrescu with 17.1% (21.2% relative to those who have heard of her) and Sorin Grindeanu with 14.6 (16.8% relative to those who have heard of him).
