AUR, led by George Simion, spent almost 5 million euros on electoral advertising at Realitatea Plus. AEP refused to reimburse a significant portion.

George Simion, the leader of AUR, accompanied Anca Alexandrescu to submit her candidacy for the Capital City Hall, in the context in which his party spent almost 5 million euros on electoral advertising at Realitatea Plus in the spring of 2025.

The Permanent Electoral Authority (AEP) refused to reimburse part of these expenses, considering that the invoices issued by Realitatea Plus do not reflect real services. Of the 69 million lei spent by AUR in the campaign, 23.4 million were paid to Realitatea Plus, but AEP only recognized 6 million as legal. Simion announced that he would contest the AEP's decision in court, accusing it of abuses and claiming that AUR is a victim of state institutions. In comparison, the amounts spent by AUR on advertising exceed the annual advertising budgets of many companies in Romania.
