Internal conflicts within AUR reached the courts in October and November 2026, amid political and financial disputes related to the 2024 election campaign. George Simion sued Marius Lulea, a former founder of the party and his former employer, accusing him of publishing attacks on websites associated with him.
The lawsuit was filed on October 23 with the Bucharest Tribunal and targets Lulea, the publication 60m.ro, and three of its representatives. The case concerns tort liability and a declaration that certain acts were unlawful.
Another case was opened on October 26 by Mirela Daniela Irindea, a former AUR candidate, against Marius Lulea and Maricel Ionuț Păcuraru. The dispute concerns a loan of 2.3 million lei, granted in 2024 to finance AUR’s campaign. According to G4Media, four other people allegedly used a similar mechanism, bringing the total amount to 11.5 million lei.
The Permanent Electoral Authority refused to reimburse certain expenses, citing the exceeding of legal spending limits. Păcuraru began enforcement proceedings against Irindea, but on November 2 the court rejected his request for a suspension. The challenge is due to be heard on November 24.
Meanwhile, an advertising company belonging to Realitatea Plus television sued AUR over alleged outstanding debts, deepening the rift between the party and its former media allies.
