In the context of Russian aggression against Ukraine, Poland will work with international institutions to provide temporary shelter for valuable works of art. The plan involves the rapid evacuation of cultural artifacts from 160 state institutions and private museums, coordinated by Maciej Matysiak, a counterintelligence expert. The initiative builds on experience since 2022, when Poland helped Ukraine protect cultural heritage. It also continues efforts to recover works of art stolen during the Second World War.
