The police in Burgenland, Austria, announced that rat poison was discovered in a 190-gram jar of HiPP baby food, specifically the product 'Carrots and Potatoes'. This discovery led to the withdrawal of the product from over 1,000 SPAR supermarkets in the country as a safety measure. HiPP stated that there are suspicions of sabotage, mentioning that the dangerous substance may have been introduced into the product.

The suspicious jars were identified by a red circle sticker and a damaged or opened lid. Laboratory tests conducted on confiscated jars in the Czech Republic and Slovakia confirmed the presence of a toxic substance. HiPP emphasized that the situation could involve external criminal intervention. SPAR advised customers not to consume the affected products and promised a refund for returned jars. The police recommended strict hygiene for those who came into contact with the suspicious products.
