Hungary's Prime Minister Viktor Orbán believes that the European Union's promises to Ukraine on membership are unrealistic and that accepting membership would automatically imply taking on the conflict with Russia. Orbán highlights the uncertainty over Ukraine's borders and population due to the war and suggests Ukraine should first become a NATO member. He warns that EU membership without a clear security framework is risky and accuses Brussels leaders of misleading Ukraine with impossible promises.
