In a comprehensive interview granted to Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, the Prime Minister of Hungary, Péter Magyar, discusses his vision for Europe and Hungary's role in the peace negotiations between Ukraine and Russia. Magyar emphasizes that his government will maintain a strict policy against illegal migration and will not accept illegal immigrants, advocating for the protection of Europe's external borders.

He also rejects the idea of extending the majority vote in the European Union, arguing that strong member states are essential for a functional Union. Regarding Russia, Magyar acknowledges the security risks it poses but believes that pragmatic relations are necessary after the conclusion of the war in Ukraine. The Hungarian Prime Minister expresses his desire to host negotiations between Ukraine and Russia, highlighting the importance of international guarantees for Ukraine and the need to address the issues of the Hungarian minority in Ukraine.
