Nicki Minaj said she loves Donald Trump and has no reason to apologize for collaborating with the U.S. president’s administration. The artist made the comments during an appearance on Fox News’ “The Ingraham Angle,” where she was invited to discuss the “Million-Dollar Pitch Competition” for small businesses.
Asked what message she had for her critics, Minaj replied “absolutely nothing” and described Trump as intelligent, funny and “grounded in reality.” However, she said she would not turn her concerts into political platforms, stressing that her shows are about entertainment, energy and memories.
The statements come after controversy over pro-Palestinian messages delivered by rapper Macklemore during his tour with Ed Sheeran. The artist was criticized by the organization StopAntisemitism and was later removed from the tour amid pressure from Robert Kraft, the owner of one of the stadiums where he was scheduled to perform.
According to TMZ, Nicki Minaj is part of the jury for Trump’s competition, which offers a total of one million dollars in prizes to five companies. The artist also said she will return to touring after the release of her next album and that she is currently in her “businesswoman era.”
