Nicuşor Dan, message for Trump: Romania will strengthen its defense and relationship with the USA

President Nicuşor Dan announced on Friday that he met with United States President Donald Trump in New York, during a reception hosted by the American leader for participants in the UN General Assembly. The head of state published a photo from the event, in which he appears alongside Mirabela Grădinaru and the President of the United States.

Nicuşor Dan said that Romania deeply values its Strategic Partnership with the United States and that the country’s goal is to strengthen the bilateral relationship. “Our ambition is clear: to work with President Trump to take this special relationship to new heights and ensure greater security and prosperity for both our nations,” the president wrote on the X platform.

He stressed that the US military and economic presence in Romania is essential to the country’s security and prosperity. Nicuşor Dan also said that Romania would strengthen its defence and deterrence capabilities and honour its commitments as a close ally of the United States in southeastern Europe. “The United States can count on Romania,” the president said.
