In an interview with Fox News, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu urged the United States not to sell F-35 fighter jets to Turkey ahead of this week's NATO summit. Netanyahu characterized Turkey as a "regime infected by Muslim Brotherhood" and emphasized that supplying these jets would disrupt the balance of power in the Middle East.
This statement comes in the context of Washington excluding Ankara from the F-35 program in 2019, following Turkey's acquisition of the Russian S-400 system. Additionally, U.S. President Donald Trump had previously suggested that he might approve the sale of engines for F-110 jets to Turkey. Regardless, any decision in this regard would require the approval of the U.S. Congress. The NATO summit, which will take place in Turkey, will bring together leaders from the 32 member states of the Atlantic Alliance.
