Nepal has announced that it will not accept international aid for search and rescue operations following the floods and landslides that have severely affected several localities, including the Rasuwa district, near the border with China.

Nearly 500 people have died, and hundreds of foreign citizens are reported missing. Although South Korea and other countries have offered assistance, the Nepalese Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that local authorities are managing the situation. South Korea confirmed that Nepal has refused aid but has promised one million dollars for humanitarian assistance.

Dinesh Bhattarai, the former ambassador to the United Nations, suggested that the refusal might be related to the political sensitivities of the region. Despite the offers of help from several states, Nepalese authorities continue rescue operations with their own resources, using helicopters to search for survivors and deliver aid.
