The mobilization of the National Guard in Los Angeles was decided by President Trump to fight crime amid protests against immigration enforcement. California Governor Gavin Newsom criticized the move as inflammatory. The protests have led to arrests and the FBI has announced crackdowns against those who use violence. Local authorities, including the mayor, have expressed concerns about the impact of the federal actions on the community.
