California activates emergency measures ahead of severe storms and possible flooding caused by the El Niño phenomenon

California has activated the National Guard to support authorities in the event of severe storms, flooding and rescue operations. According to NOAA, there is a 75% probability that the phenomenon will become the strongest ever recorded. El Niño can intensify extreme weather events worldwide, while climatologists estimate that 2027 could become the hottest year on record.
