Microsoft is accused by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission of having deceived 2.7 million customers into paying higher subscriptions for Microsoft 365

Approximately 2.7 million customers would have been affected starting from October 2024, when Microsoft suggested that they need to switch to a more expensive subscription after the introduction of the Copilot AI. Individual and family subscriptions have been increased by 45% and 29% respectively, and authorities claim that Microsoft has hidden information that the old option, without Copilot, was available at a lower price. Microsoft is reviewing the allegations and may be required to pay compensation to affected users.
