The Ukrainian leader, Volodymyr Zelensky, announced a major Russian attack on the night from Friday to Saturday, in which 35 missiles and 185 drones were launched, causing the death of at least 9 people and injuring 28, including 4 children.
The attacks targeted especially Kyiv, but also the regions of Dnipro, Sumy, Kharkiv, and Poltava. Zelensky accused the lack of interception systems, emphasizing that only one missile was shot down, which encourages Russia to continue the attacks. He called on international partners to urgently provide defense capabilities, noting that every delay leads to more casualties.
The attacks caused fires in seven neighborhoods in Kyiv, affecting residential buildings, a school, and the Embassy of Lithuania. The Ukrainian air forces reported that they neutralized 156 targets, including missiles and drones, but there were also significant impacts on civilian infrastructure.
