Emmanuel Macron, the President of France, has recorded a dramatic drop in popularity, reaching an approval rating of just 11%, the lowest level since taking office. This figure equals a similar record set by François Hollande in November 2016, according to a survey conducted by Verian for Le Figaro. Thus, Macron and Hollande become the most unpopular presidents of France since the early 1970s, when monthly polls began.
In contrast, Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu has recorded a 5-point increase in popularity, reaching 26%, benefiting from support among older individuals and retirees. Lecornu has also promised to suspend the pension reform until the 2027 elections, in response to pressure from socialists who threatened a vote of no confidence.
