President Emmanuel Macron described the devastating fires in the Gironde region as the worst situation since World War II, during a visit to the area.

Over 60,000 hectares have been affected by the flames, and Macron emphasized that they are facing an unprecedented fire. During the visit, he encouraged firefighters to stay strong, warning that the fight against the fire will take a long time, but promising that "we will win this battle together." Macron praised the efforts of the intervention teams who managed to stop the advance of the fire, although the blaze was extremely unpredictable, turning into firestorms.

He also promised the reconstruction of the affected forests. The fire near the city of Bordeaux destroyed 42,000 hectares of pine forest and 240 homes, and although it has eased after rain, it is still not extinguished.
