The President of France, Emmanuel Macron, and the Prime Minister of Poland, Donald Tusk, will meet on Monday in Gdansk to strengthen bilateral relations, focusing on nuclear deterrence, military satellites, and the defense industry. This meeting marks the first application of the Enhanced Friendship and Cooperation Treaty, signed in May 2025, which reiterates Poland as a key ally of France.
In the context of international tensions, discussions will focus on security and military cooperation, with an emphasis on advanced nuclear deterrence. Macron, accompanied by four ministers, will also address topics such as Poland's participation in French deterrence, considering that France maintains sovereignty in the use of force. Additionally, a partnership for a military communication satellite project will be signed, and France will promote European defense acquisitions. Furthermore, the EDF group will participate in the bidding for a new nuclear power plant in Poland. The two countries, with deep cultural ties, are planning a joint cultural season in 2027.
