The President of Romania, Nicușor Dan, will participate on June 25 in the second meeting of the Eastern Flank Summit, which will take place in Gdańsk, Poland, under the auspices of Prime Minister Donald Tusk. The summit will bring together leaders from EU countries close to the Russian Federation, aiming to coordinate the implementation of the Readiness 2030 Plan and other European instruments to strengthen defense capabilities.
In his intervention, Nicușor Dan will present national measures to strengthen defense, including Romania's participation in the SAFE program and in Common Interest Projects in the field of European Defense. He will also discuss the Security Hub at the Black Sea and the proposal to include a new pillar in the Eastern Flank Watch project.
The President will emphasize the importance of coordination in negotiations for the future Multiannual Financial Framework of the EU, to ensure consistent funding for defense and infrastructure. Romania reaffirms its commitment to support the Eastern Flank by modernizing defense capabilities and actively participating in EU and NATO missions.
