Nicușor Dan participates in the Carpathian summit in Ukraine and supports regional cooperation, investment, and the protection of natural heritage

President of Romania Nicușor Dan is attending the inaugural Summit of the Carpathian Integration Initiative on Friday, September 18, 2026, in Ukraine’s Ivano-Frankivsk region, at the invitation of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The meeting aims to strengthen cooperation among the countries of the Carpathian Mountains region and harness its economic, cultural and natural potential.

Representatives of Austria, the Czech Republic, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Hungary and Ukraine are attending the summit, along with other stakeholders involved in regional cooperation. The Carpathian Economic Forum, the Youth Forum, meetings of local authorities and sessions dedicated to culture and nature conservation are scheduled on the sidelines of the meeting.

Nicușor Dan and the other participating leaders will open the Economic Forum. The President of Romania will emphasize that his country contains the longest section of the Carpathian arc and plays an important role in regional cooperation.

The head of state will advocate a Carpathian platform based on integrated cooperation, investment, economic exchanges and projects with a direct impact on communities. The initiative also aims to increase the region’s attractiveness, protect its heritage and contribute to a shared European future.
