Maria Corina Machado, leader of the Venezuelan opposition, promises that she will run again for president.
During a meeting in Panama with leaders of the Venezuelan opposition, Machado emphasized the need to organize free and fair presidential elections, in which all Venezuelans, both from the country and abroad, should participate. Her statements come four months after the White House decided to collaborate with a loyalist of the Venezuelan government, following the capture of Nicolás Maduro by the US military.
Machado, who has been in exile since December, mentioned that organizing the elections would require between seven and nine months of preparation, including the appointment of impartial electoral authorities and updating the electoral rolls.
Although she has become Maduro's strongest opponent, the government has banned her from running in the 2024 elections.
