Maria Corina Machado, the leader of the opposition in Venezuela, accused the government of closing the country's airspace to prevent her return after the two devastating earthquakes last week.

In a video posted on Instagram, Machado stated that her return on June 24 has become inevitable, emphasizing the importance of solidarity in the face of catastrophe. She is currently in Panama City and accused the authorities of blocking information about the earthquakes and restricting communications, claiming that the government is trying to keep the population in ignorance regarding the extent of the emergency situation.

Machado reiterated that she is ready to return to Venezuela and that she will do whatever is necessary to meet with citizens, aiming to facilitate a democratic transition. CNN requested a comment from the Venezuelan government but did not receive a response.
