Kestutis Budrys, the Lithuanian Foreign Minister, stated in an interview that NATO must show Russia that it is capable of penetrating into Kaliningrad, Russia's militarized exclave located between Lithuania and Poland.
Budrys emphasized that, if necessary, NATO has the capability to destroy Russian air defense and missile bases in the area.
The Kremlin's spokesperson, Dmitri Peskov, reacted by calling Budrys's statements "madness" and criticized politicians from the Baltic states for their anti-Russian obsession, suggesting that it affects their judgment.
Kaliningrad, with a population of about one million inhabitants, is a strategic point for Russia, hosting the Russian fleet from the Baltic Sea.
