Italy will join the Pax Silica initiative, led by the United States, which aims to secure supply chains for artificial intelligence, announced an official from the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Ambassador Armando Varricchio stated that Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani and U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio will sign a memorandum of understanding as soon as possible. This strategic initiative brings together allied states to ensure the critical supply chains necessary for AI development, covering areas such as energy and critical minerals. Although Italy's official accession to Pax Silica has been delayed due to diplomatic tensions between Giorgia Meloni and Donald Trump, Italian officials assert that these conflicts will not affect cooperation in the technology sector. The initiative has already gained the support of the European Commission and other states, including the Netherlands.
