The Italian Foreign Minister, Antonio Tajani, announced that Italy will no longer respond to the provocations of the U.S. President, Donald Trump, in the context of the NATO meeting that will take place in Turkey.
Tajani stated that Trump "speaks in his own name" and emphasized that Italy will avoid fueling disputes among allies. Although he acknowledged Trump's provocative style, the Italian official reaffirmed Italy's commitment to the strategic partnership with the United States.
This reaction comes after Trump mocked the Italian Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni, on social media, generating misunderstandings between the two amid the management of crises in the Middle East and Trump's criticisms of the Pope. Meloni, previously a supporter of Trump, dismissed his claims about an alleged request for a photo.
