The maritime area around the uninhabited island of Anydros, between Thira (Santorini) and Amorgos, has seen a significant increase in seismicity, with more than 380 earthquakes, 85 of which were above magnitude 3. The authorities have taken precautionary measures by installing two additional monitoring stations. The earthquakes are not volcanic, but tectonic in origin, and the potential for tsunamis is the greatest danger.
