The authorities in Athens have issued a Red Alert for the Ionian Islands, where a very high risk of wildfires (Category 4) is forecasted. The main affected islands include Corfu, Paxos, Ithaca, Cephalonia, Lefkada, Kythira, and Zante.
As part of this alert, the National Civil Protection Mechanism has been fully activated, mobilizing personnel, equipment, and resources to address the imminent threats and to manage possible consequences. Additionally, short-term measures have been implemented for recovery and support.
In other areas of Greece, including Attica, a high risk of fires (Category 3) is forecasted. Despite this situation, fires in other regions have been controlled, and interventions continue in affected areas such as Salamina and Beotia, where the outbreaks are largely under control. Authorities have issued evacuation recommendations for residents in the most affected areas.
