In the context of diversifying gas supplies, Hungary, the largest client of Gazprom in the EU, has announced its desire to import gas from Turkmenistan. Undersecretary of State Adam Stifter emphasized the importance of this partnership. Recently, Hungary signed contracts for liquefied gas with Engie and Shell, but Prime Minister Viktor Orban stated that the country will continue to import oil from Russia, citing a lack of alternatives. The change in Budapest's rhetoric suggests an openness to new sources, although logistical challenges remain.
