The Israeli Minister of Defense, Israel Katz, made a trip to Syria a week after the attack on the former base at Abu al Duhur, aiming to block the deployment of Turkish troops.

Israel has launched hundreds of strikes on Syria since the fall of President Bashar al-Assad in December 2024, deploying troops in the buffer zone on the Golan Heights, occupied since 1967. Minister Katz stated that daily activities are meant to thwart threats and prevent the consolidation of the new Syrian power. He emphasized that the Israeli defense forces will remain in the area to ensure security.

Katz sent a clear message to the Syrian president, emphasizing that the Israeli military presence is a protective measure. He also mentioned that the attack on the base at Abu al Duhur was a reaction to a Turkish attempt to establish itself in Syria, contrary to Israel's security interests. General Eyal Zamir confirmed that Israel will not allow threats to stabilize at the border.
