The €25 fee is charged for tourist purposes. Separate entry for those who come to the mosque for religious purposes has also sparked dissatisfaction. The decision has been criticized as contrary to President Erdogan's assurances that entry will be free, as it is in all mosques. The fee to visit the mosque was introduced on January 15.
