Lieutenant General Christian Freuding, the head of the German army, stated that Russia could have the capability to attack a NATO member state by 2029 or even earlier, emphasizing the need to accelerate Germany's military preparations. At the ILA aerospace exhibition in Berlin, Freuding mentioned that there is a consensus within NATO regarding the threat posed by Moscow.

Although the war in Ukraine has led to significant losses for Russia, European defense officials warn that it could quickly rebuild its military capabilities. The year 2029 thus becomes a benchmark for Europe regarding the improvement of military preparedness and defense capabilities.

Freuding emphasized that Germany must focus on interim solutions to bridge the gap between current capabilities and those needed, insisting on the importance of a military prepared to deter Russian aggression.
