The Supreme Allied Commander Europe, U.S. General Alexus Grynkewich, will deliver a warning to Moscow in Warsaw on Monday about NATO’s ability to counter any attack. The statement comes amid growing fears over the Russian threat and intensified hybrid actions attributed to the Kremlin.
At a security conference, Grynkewich will present his “theory of victory,” a strategic framework outlining how the Alliance could deter aggression and, if it occurred, defeat Russia. NATO is not expected to provide details of its operational plans, which are traditionally kept secret.
According to the general’s spokesperson, Colonel Martin O'Donnell, the strategy is based on maintaining NATO’s advantage and on existing defense and deterrence plans. The initiative aims to send a signal to Moscow and reassure the states on the Alliance’s eastern flank.
Western officials say Russia is intensifying sabotage and interference against states supporting Ukraine. Recent incidents include the discovery of a drone loaded with explosives at an airport in Germany.
NATO’s message comes at a sensitive time for Europe. The United States is reassessing its military presence on the continent, and a possible reduction in U.S. troop levels could be announced at the end of the year. At the same time, European countries are strengthening their armed forces and support for Ukraine.
